Next generation Tata Estate rendered, will it be launched here?

The Tata Estate is one such car which was unique in its own right but is now almost forgotten. This station wagon was considered a premium vehicle with a lot of technology back in its time. Unfortunately, people did not warm up to the idea of station wagons in India and as a result, Tata Motors had to axe the Estate from its line-up.

Next-gen Tata Estate rendered with Tata Motors’ latest design language – Impact 2.0.

Just recently, Mr. Pratap Bose, head of design at Tata Motors has expressed his desire to bring back models such as the Sierra and the Sumo. Though, the Estate was not directly mentioned, we can also not rule out the possibility of a return. A rendered image of the next generation Estate has been doing the rounds on the internet for quite a while.

The render is based on Tata Motors ‘Impact 2.0’ design theme. The Estate does carry a very impressive look with clean lines and sensible styling. When launched, the Estate could win a lot of admirers solely based on its design.

The company has not officially announced about re-introducing the Tata Estate anytime soon.

Practicality will be a key element in the Estate, with the vehicle having a spacious 5-seat layout and a large boot. The Estate is likely to arrive either in a turbocharged petrol engine or a petrol-hybrid one. This is due to the arrival of BS-VI emission norms from April 2020 onwards.

When launched, the Estate will be likely to rival the Datsun Go+, which at present is the only station wagon on sale here. Tata Motors will slot the Estate between the Nexon compact SUV and the upcoming Harrier mid-size SUV. Given Tata Motors aggressive pricing expertise, we can expect the next generation Estate to be priced on par with a few mid-size sedans when launched.
