Jeep is currently on a roll in India. The roaring success of the Compass has enabled people to stand up and take notice of the brand here. Now, the American marquee has plans of launching two new products which will be heading our way in sometime.
Out of the two, one will be a compact SUV and the other is a premium SUV. As per reports, both of them will be launched sometime in 2022. Currently, both are undergoing development and we can see them testing on our roads soon.
This means that the Renegade, widely touted for launch, will not be coming to India. The Renegade was not listed on Jeep’s 2022 launch plan in India, but will be replaced by a more conservative sub-4m vehicle. This compact SUV will have a front wheel drive layout, with only the top trims having the luxury of all-wheel drive and will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Tata Nexon.
We can expect this sub-4m SUV to come at a price of below Rs. 10 lakh to be estimated. Another product in the pipeline will be a premium SUV, which will be rivalling the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. It will offer a third row of seats and all trims will come with all-wheel drive.
Expect it to be priced at around Rs. 27 lakh, undercutting its rivals by a small margin on that aspect. As expected, both these models will be locally assembled in order to keep costs in check. Like the Compass, both these models will also be imported to various developing markets around the world.
