The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, which will commence on 15th August 2022, will get honoured as India’s first high-speed bullet train. In numbers, the entire project is estimated at INR 1.1 lakh crores or 17 billion dollars. This will come at an aim to reduce travelling time between both cities from currently 7 hours to just 2 hours.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project is set to start on 15th August 2022, less than 5 years from now.
Inaugurated jointly by a Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi along with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe, this bullet train promises to be the first-of-its-kind. At the initial phase, the train will contain 10 coaches with the capacity of 750 passengers. This will further increase to 16 coaches with the capacity of 1200 people in the future.
The train will have a maximum speed of 350 KMPH (220 MPH), while it will operate at 320 KMPH (200 MPH). Traveling at about 508 KMS, this rain is expected to cover the distance in 2 hour and 8 minutes. There will be a total of approximately 4,000 people involved in both operation and maintenance.
Ticket cost is expected to start from INR 3,000 going upto INR 5,000.
The high-speed bullet train will have 12 stations for which the train will stop in between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Further, there are also reports that the high-speed rail corridor would be extended to Pune and Nasik. The train will run along the tunnel of 21 km which 7 km will be at the Thane Creek, which is underwater.
