Suzuki has unveiled the latest generation Suzuki WagonR, and this time around the WagonR also gets a twin with minor exterior differences portraying a more aggressive look called the Suzuki Stingray.

7 years since the New WagonR arrived on the Indian scene, and more than a million examples on, the new to replace the New is finally here – The WagonR, as the new one is simply called. It features a radical change in the adopted design language, though the overall tall boy stance has been retained.
In Japan, the new WagonR comes in one standard and two hybrid variants- FA, FX hybrid and FZ hybrid, apart from the Stingray which is available in three variants with one standard L variant and two hybrids – Hybrid T, Hybrid X. All variants come with a CVT unit as standard and with the option of 2WD or 4WD option.

Breaking free of the geometry of the previous model and displaying a sportier appeal, the new WagonR features a two-part grille with chrome inserts, which is surrounded by a pair of squarish headlamp assemblies. While the hybrid model gets two-piece headlamps, separated by body coloured panel. The front bumper is also different on the petrol and hybrid variants.

The new Stingray features vertically stacked headlights with LED inserts, large angular grille, swept-back headlamps, sporty intakes in the bumper, fog lamps, side skirts, new alloy wheels, and new taillamps positioned on the lower fascia. However, the side profile and rear end is similar across the range, the slanted B-pillar that is thick at the bottom but narrows down towards the top adds the freshness.
Pictured here is a WagonR’s all-beige interior, while the Stingray carries that Sporty Black finish all around in its cabin.
Inside, The WagonR’s cabin has been reworked, with everything pretty much redesigned, with a centre-mounted instrument cluster and a tablet-like touchscreen infotainment system. The gear lever is mounted on the dashboard itself. The Stingray too borrows the same cabin layout, additionally gets an all-black interior with red inserts instead of the dual-tone look of the WagonR’s interiors.
Engine-wise, the Japan will get a 660 cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine that develops 51 BHP and 60 Nm of torque. The hybrid variants are equipped with Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid technology. In the Stingray, the petrol engine is tuned to generate 65 BHP and 98 Nm of torque. A CVT gearbox is standard and all variants get the option of 2WD or 4WD setup.
