The BMW 520d M Sport is basically a more affordable variant of the 5-Series M Sport model, which so far was only on-sale in the 530d variant. Priced starting from Rs. 54 lakh (ex-showroom), the 520d M Sport gets the cosmetic goodness of the M Sport models.
On the outside, the 520d M Sport gets BMW’s M aerodynamics package that adds features like a new set of dual-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, sports bumpers, side skirts, dark chrome exhaust pipe finishers, and a dark shadow metallic coloured diffuser. The ‘M’ badge has been placed on the front wings and the door sills. Further gets an Adaptive LED Headlight.
Inside, the treatment continues with a new M Sport steering wheel and an aluminium hexagon interior trim strip complete the look of the interiors. It comes with the BMW iDrive system that consists of a 10-inch colour display, and BMW Navigation system Professional with 3D maps. Other equipment on offer includes Intelligent Lightweight Construction, Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO modes (ECOPRO, Comfort, Sport), Brake-Energy Regeneration, Park Distance Control, Rear View Camera among others.
The 520d M Sport is powered by a 1995 cc 4 cyl TwinPower turbodiesel engine capable of producing188 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission that comes with a steering wheel paddle shifters. BMW claims that the 520d M Sport will go from 0-100kmph in 7.7 seconds, with a top speed of 233 KMPH and a 50:50 weight distribution.
A total of 3 colours are on offer – Alpine White (non-metallic), Mediterranean Blue (Metallic) and Carbon Black (Metallic). Built at the BMW’s plant in Chennai, the 520d M Sport is now on-sale at all BMW dealerships across India.
