Mahindra has been testing its compact SUV, the KUV 100 for a long time now, and at an event held in Mumbai last month, Mahindra officially announced the KUV 100 and revealed two pictures too at the event. The two pictures revealed by Mahindra gave us a look at the exteriors of the KUV 100, but we did not have an idea about the interiors of the compact SUV.
Earlier spyshots had revealed that the seats in the KUV100 would be in the 3+3, two row configuration. Other than this bit of information, we had no clue of the other features of the interiors of the KUV 100, that is, until now.
We have now come across a set of spy pictures that have revealed the interiors of the KUV 100 in detail, like never before. The designers at Mahindra have gone all classy on the KUV 100, and have given it beige upholstery on the dashboard and seats, and complimenting the beige are, piano black finish inserts on the centre console. Since it is a 3+3 two row seating configuration, the gear lever has been located in the centre console on the dashboard.
The centre console also houses the controls for air conditioning and the 4-inch TFT display for the infotainment system. Under the centre console, the 12V charging socket can be found alongside the Handbrake lever. The infotainment system features USB, Bluetooth, AUX-IN and output is sent to 6-speakers.
The seats seem well cushioned and the fabric seems to have been lifted of the TUV 300, but real world comfort levels can only be judged after a road test. The centre seat in the front row is can be folded into an armrest for the driver and the front passenger, increasing comfort levels when there are less than 6 people in the KUV 100.
The Mahindra KUV 100 is based on an all new platform and this platform will be the basis of quite a few upcoming Mahindra vehicles. The KUV 100 falls under the sub-4 meter SUV segment and will be sold in four trim levels. The top of the line model will feature airbags, ABS, EBD, central locking system, keyless entry, electric ORVM’s etc.
This all new platform will be powered by all new engines as well. Mahindra has developed a new range of small capacity petrol and diesel engines and named it mFalcon. The petrol engine is a 1.2 liter, 3-cylinder engine generating max power of 82 BHP and max torque of 114 NM. The diesel engine too is a 1.2 liter, 3-cylinder unit, but the max power output stands at 77 BHP and the max torque output is 190 NM. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed manual transmission, but going by the trends, we can expect Mahindra to provide an AMT option later.
