Just yesterday we brought you some images reporting that Maruti has already started shipping the demo cars to their wide range of dealership across India. Today, the company has released the firstever official images of Maruti Alto 800, ahead to its launch next Tuesday. As we said, the company has already started accepting orders for the new model on initial booking amount of Rs 5,000.
From the images, it’s pretty evident that the Alto 800 looks typically a basic car that even dumps the left hand wing mirror as a part of cost cutting. Also there is no provision even for adding after market fog lamps onto the Alto 800. However, it′s base variant is expected to be priced just below Rs 2.5 lakh, making this car one of the least priced petrol cars money can buy in India.
Maruti Suzuki plans to begin exporting the Alto 800 to Latin America and other developing markets over time as a low cost, small car. Now the reports also confirm that the company will discontinue the existing Alto, but there is certainly no plans to discontinue the Alto K10 variant, which is powered by the 1-liter K Series engine.
The new Maruti Alto 800 is likely to be offered in a choice of six variants – 3 petrol and 3 CNG. Petrol variants are expected to offer mileage approximately at 23 kmpl, while the CNG version will give mileage of around 31 kmpl.
