Earlier last-month, OnCars.in has reported that Honda has started testing the new 2013 CR-V in India. But at the moment we didn’t have any spy pictures to have it confirmed. Now a month after the report, the AutoCarIndia reader Vivek Sharma has managed to snap firstever spy pictures of this test mule in Noida. The 2013 Honda CR-V is expected to be price around Rs 28 lakh in India.
The Japanese car manufacturer, Honda has already launched the revamped crossover is some places like Saudi Arabia, Dubai (UAE), USA, Manila (Philippines) and Pakistan. The upcoming 2013 Honda CR-V is the fourth generation model, which made its debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show in November-2011 and in India it was expected to make its debut at 2012 Delhi Auto Expo which was held earlier this-year in New Delhi. But surprisingly Honda didn’t have any upcoming cars at the event.
The new CR-V is more aggressive and aerodynamic stance with deeper sculpting of the bodylines and a bolder nose section. The front bumper’s smooth, flowing lines are joined by a horizontal three-bar grille and deep-set headlights. The lower front bumper is designed to convey SUV capability with a generous approach angle. The signature vertical rear brake lights, which have featured on every generation of Honda CR-V, remain but the fourth generation introduces a more three-dimensional style. The CR-V’s large wheels and bold wheelarches further emphasise its dynamic presence and capability.
The engines offered in the 2013 Honda CR-V differs based on the market, the American versions continue to use the 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre petrol versions, but the European model gets either a 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol engine or a 2.2-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. In the gulf countries, the fourth-gen CR-V gets only 2.4-litre petrol engine option. However, the exact engine specification for Indian model is not known at the moment.
According to AutoCarIndia, the 2013 CR-V will be initially launched with an updated 2.4-litre petrol engine option in India. The in-line four cylinder engine powering the new Honda CR-V is smooth & responsive and can produce a maximum power of 185bhp. The torque has also been increased substantially to 222 Nm, the engine is mated to a five speed auto transmission that powers the front wheel in normal mode and manages to send power to the rear axle if required. Honda has said that a diesel engine is in the pipeline, but isn’t expected immediately.
