Thanks to MotorBeam reader Ajith Kumar Gopalakrishnan for the snap of Fluidic Hyundai i20 which has been caught again in Chennai. The redesigned headlamps look more pronounced than ever, even from the camouflage. One might as well expect a new grille endowing a new look to the fascia of the car under the cover. Hyundai was initially rumored to release the facelifted i20 at the upcoming Auto Expo but the new i20 will be launched only in April.
From the images the side profile showcases nothing new at all, with the only apparent change being the new wheel caps which make its way into the revamped version of the car. According to same, Hyundai India might strip off the interiors to replace it with new upholstery to the car. There won’t be any significant changes to the vehicle and the interiors are going to look hihgly unchanged. The instrument cluster will not be blue (just like all other Hyundai vehicles) and small features will be added to the interior.
As far as mechanical changes are concerned there is absolutely no reason why Hyundai India should even think of an engine overhaul for the new Hyundai i20. The 1.4 L Gamma and 1.2 L Kappa petrol engines under the hood account for some impressive peak power and torque output. The 1.4 L diesel powered Hyundai i20 delivers a phenomenal mileage of 23 kmpl.
Now, Hyundai hopes to introduce its ‘Fluidic’ design in its entire line-up and the same could be seen in the spotted 2012 Hyundai Sonata as well. The new Hyundai i20 can be seen with an out and out makeover with the dazzling ‘Fluidic’ design adding charm to the new exteriors. Prices will be revised upwards, but only slightly.
