Royal Enfield had launched its retro racer the Continental GT aka Café Racer model in the Delhi Auto expo in 2012. Ever since, it’s been in the news and the RE enthusiasts have been waiting to have their hands on the bike. The Continental GT is due its launch by the end of 2013 and will be rolled out from the new RE factory in Oragadam on the outskirts of Chennai.
The Continental GT is by far the lightest and the fastest RE bike. Powering the bike is a 535cc single cylinder engine with a remapped ECU. The bike is equipped with Pailoi suspension at rear and Pirelli tyres. The disc brakes are soured from Brembo and provide adequate stopping power.
RE has already been testing out various configuration of the bike on the Indian roads, and recently a Facebook group named “Royal Enfield” clicked a few images of 3 Continental GT`s with different seating configurations. As we can see two these bike have a single seating arrangement and one has a long seat enough to house a pillion rider. By looking at the trend in the Indian motorcycle scenario it is expected that the pillion seating arrangement will be standard and other can be optional.
The Continental GT is expected to be tagged in a price range of Rs. 1.75 to 2.0 lakh.
