27 new cars, 16 facelifts and 2 new car brands heading to 2014 Indian Auto Expo

The Auto Expo in India has had quite a long and fruitful journey, New Delhi has hosted 11 successful Auto Expo’s so far and the event, the number of participants and the number of products has only been increasing by the year.  In two months time from now, the 12th Auto Show will be underway and now is that time of the year, in which everyone is keen to know more about the cars and bikes that will be launched by the manufacturers.

Well, it seems like there is a lot to look forward to from the 2014 Auto Show. Unlike previous years, the 2014 Auto Expo will be held at two different venues. The Auto Expo is divided into two categories, the first is the actual motor show which will be held at ‘India expo mart’ in greater Noida, NCR and will take place from 7th to 11th February 2014 and the second is the components show which will be held at the older venue, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi and this will take place from 6th to 9th February-2014.

The manufacturer’s themselves are betting big on the year 2014, as in 2013, they suffered due to the economic slowdown and so they are hoping for a better year in 2014 and are preparing their products for display at the 2014 Auto Expo. After China, the Indian Auto Expo is the largest motor show in the world both in terms of footfall and display space. In fact, display space at the 13th edition next year has been increased by 30% to 50,000 square metres.

New brands at the Delhi Auto Expo include China’s Great Wall Motors and Fiat-Chrysler’s Jeep. Also there are unconfirmed reports floating on web that Infiniti, Acura and Spyker might showcase their range of products to know response from the public. All the cars that are expected to either showcase or launch at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, are as follows;

 

Audi –

Audi will launch the new A3 sedan at the Auto Show, also on display will be some concept cars and some special edition cars as well. The concept range might include the the Nanuk Quattro Concept and the Sport Quattro concept, which was recently showcased at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

 

BMW –

2014 BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo

The all-new BMW 3 Series GT will be the company’s next big product to be introduced in India by next year. The same will also be unveiled at the 2014 Auto Show. It will be a locally produced product, which will help the company to keep its costs down. It will be the seventh product to roll out from the company’s Chennai based plant. Alongside the 3rd generation X5, which too will be unveiled at the next year’s Auto Show, the vehicle has already been available in several international markets.

 

Chevrolet –

New Chevrolet Beat facelift

General Motors has been testing the a facelifted version of the Beat hatch, since a long-time now. Finally the carmaker is all-set to launch the Beat facelift in India at the 2014 India Auto Expo in February next year. This facelift will purely be cosmetic with the addition of new features including, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, automatic headlamps and additional new colours. Like the current model expect the upcoming car to get 3 alternative fuel engine options such as petrol, CNG and diesel. However, next-generation Beat is in pipeline and is expected to be unveiled sometime in 2015.

 

Datsun –

Parent company Nissan will bring the budget car maker, Datsun to India, and it would be launched at the Auto Expo. Datsun has got the GO hatchback and GO+ compact MUV as their first launches in India, while the GO hatchback will be launched around the same time of the Auto Expo, the GO+ compact MUV will be launched a little later, maybe in mid-2014. We expect competitive pricing from Datsun, as their vehicles are known worldwide as budget cars.

 

Ford India –

Fiat –

The Italian automaker’s Indian portfolio currently consists of the Fiat Grande Punto and the Fiat Linea. Both the models are long awaited for a facelift in India, as the international markets received the facelifts long time back. While the new version of the Punto will take some time to launch, Fiat has already started testing the 2014 Linea on Indian roads, which makes believe that it will be showacased at the upcoming event.

 

Hindustan Motors –

Hindustan Motors is planning a comeback in the Indian market after seeing it sales fall almost to the ground. Initially, the company is planning to launch a compact sedan version of the Ambassador. To be unveiled at the next year’s Auto Show, while the vehicle will go on-sale in the first half of 2014. According to the recent report in Economic Times, the Ambassador compact sedan will get the proven 1.3-litre Multijet engine sources from Fiat.

 

Honda –

Honda too has new additions to its line-up in India, and new engines as well! Honda recently revealed the new City, this would be launched in India at the Auto Expo, the other products on display include the new Honda Jazz, the much awaited for, Honda Mobilo MUV and the Honda Vezel compact SUV.

 

Hyundai –

Hyundai is the second largest manufacturer in India today, thanks to the clever packaging of their cars, more features for lesser price. Hyundai already has bestsellers in its portfolio like the i10 Grand and the Hyundai Verna, but they want more. At the Auto Expo, Hyundai will showcase a compact SUV and an i10 Grand based compact sedan. While the compact sedan will be launched sometime in mid-2014, the SUV will take some more time as it is still on the drawing board at this stage in time. Jaguar –

Tata Motor’s British subsidiary Jaguar luxury and sports car maker is speculated to showcase 2 new models at the upcoming Auto Expo the recently unveiled Jaguar F-Type Coupe and company’s first SUV C-X17 is concept avatar. While the F-Type Coupe will soon be launched in India, and bookings for the motorcycle will commence shortly after that. The company described the F-Type Coupe as the most dynamically capable, performance-based sports car that Jaguar has ever produced. However, Jaguar says it’s still deciding whether to build it, but it’s been slated for production in 2016.

 

Jeep –

Fiat will be bringing the long-awaited Jeep brand to the Indian market. At the Auto Expo, Jeep will be launching the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee as their first cars for the Indian market. Their other cars will eventually be made available for the Indian consumer.

 

Land Rover –

Land Rover will present the refreshed 2014 Discovery and the 2014 Range Rover Evoque at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The 2014 Discovery gets a new look, new badging, improved audio systems and the new range of driver assistance, comfort and safety features. The front fascia of the vehicle gets a new front grille, new bumper, restyled headlamps, new DRLs and others. While the 2014 Range Rover Evoque comes equipped with a range of new comfort, convenience, connectivity features and several new technologies. The vehicle now features a new 9-speed automatic transmission, new driver assistance features and others.

 

Mahindra –

Maruti Suzuki –

The only car launched by Maruti Suzuki in 2013 was he WagonR Stingray, which was actually more of a facelift. However, Maruti Suzuki wants to change that in 2014, as it has plans to launch three new vehicles across different segments, so we can expect them to showcase these vehicles at the Auto Expo. One is a hatchback code-named the YL7 which is rumoured to be the A-star replacement, the second product from the Maruti stable will be the YL1 mid size sedan, which is the much-awaited SX4 replacement and the third offering from Maruti Suzuki will be an SX4 based CUV(compact utility vehicle) codenamed YAD. Mercedes-Benz –

At the 2014 Auto Expo, Mercedes-Benz will launch the GLA crossover SUV and the CLA high performance 4-door sedan. The company will also present the S-Class premium saloon at the next year’s Indian Auto Expo. It might not generate volume sales for the company, but this flagship model has best-in-class features, comfort and driveability, and will surely attract the business class buyers. Apart from these, Mercedes might also display few concepts and facelif’t’s as well.

 

Nissan –

Nissan India might showcase two of its upcoming models, 2014 X-Trail and 2014 Qashqai at the 2014 Auto Expo. Previously, Nissan’s X-Trail had not obtained the required decent sales in the Indian market, part of the problem being pricing. In order to overcome this, Nissan has planned to launch the modified X-Trail which in fact is more muscular than the existing one. The company also plans to launch Qashqai in order to compete the premium SUV segments in India. Both the SUVs look almost identical and is expected to hit showrooms by the end of next-year.

 

Renault –

Renault is the manufacturer which became one of the top selling manufacturers in India just a few months since they entered India, all thanks to the Renault Duster, it is now clear that Indians like Renault and their cars. At the Auto Expo, Renault will showcase the Renault Lodgy MPV which will be launched sometime later next-year. Also, in a bid to make the already superb Duster, Renault will be launching the Duster facelift. Although not confirmed, we at BharathAutos believe Renault might also showcased its facelift version of Koleos and Fluence at the event.

 

Skoda –

Czech car manufacturer, Skoda India will soon launch the new Superb saloon and facelifted Yeti SUV in India, however, nothing has been confirmed about the exact launch time of these cars. The new Superb has been caught testing during its test rounds in India, it is expected that it could make its way to the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The facelifted Yeti showcased at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, is also expected to make way to the next year’s show. Both the cars will be launched in next few months after the official unveiling.

 

Tata Motors –

Tata Motors will showcase the successors to the Vista and the Manza, codenamed ‘Falcon 4’ and ‘Falcon 5’. The’ Falcon 4’ is an hatchback, whereas, the ‘Falcon 5’ is a compact sedan, there is still some confusion on whether the ‘Falcon 5’ will replace the Manza or will just be based on the Manza, but we’re sure that this confusion will be cleared at the upcoming Auto Expo. Toyota –

Toyota would be revealing the all-new Toyota Corolla and Fortuner facelift at the 2014 Auto Show. And there would also be some facelift’s across its current line-up as well.

 

We’ll not be surprised, if Dilip Chhabria design launches the India’s first ever own build sport car ‘DC Avanti’ at the 2014 Auto Expo. The Avanti will be priced Rs. 28 lakh (ex-showroom, Bangalore) only for the first 300 units and, the deliveries will commence from March-2014. Bookings for the DC Avanti are already open at all DC dealership across the country.
