Austrian company KTM are gearing up for bringing a much improved version of the Duke 125 to our market. The Duke 125, which is the most affordable KTM on sale in India, does have its upgraded model planned for a launch this month. The given update will be the first for the motorcycle since it came to our shores in 2018.
As per reports, few selected KTM dealers across the country have unofficially opened bookings for the Duke 125 update. Bookings for the motorcycle can be accepted with a token amount of Rs.5,000. Along with its launch, KTM are even reportedly set to commence the deliveries of the Duke 125 by the end of the year.
The motorcycle will receive a sharp new design theme as compared to the outgoing model. This aims to break away from the now ageing design seen on current motorcycles from KTM. The given design will be lifted from its bigger sibling, the Duke 200.
Changes on the Duke 125 update include a new halogen headlamp set-up having LED DRL’s, new LCD display and a trellis frame suspension with a bolt-on sub frame. Other than that, KTM will increase the tank capacity of the motorcycle from 9.5 litres to 13.5 litres. Mechanically, no changes are expected to be seen on the updated Duke 125 in comparison to its current model.
It will continue to come powered by a 124cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor. This engine is capable enough of making 14.5 BHP of power along with 12 Nm of torque. The engine does come mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
At present, the Duke 125 comes at a price of Rs.1.48 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Thus, the updated model of the motorcycle could be asking for a slight premium of around Rs.10,000 at the time it gets launched. The Duke 125 will more importantly be taking on the Bajaj Pulsar 125 along with quite a few formidable opponents in the 125cc commuter segment.
