Skoda has finally pulled the wraps-off of its new-generation 2020 Octavia after so many speculations, rumors and recent leak of images.
The Octavia is the world’s highest-selling car in the stable of the Czech carmaker. The Octavia Skoda 2020 comes with a dramatic makeover styling that looks mature. A huge signature butterfly grille, single-piece headlights and a sleek bumper completes the front profile.
The side profile can remind you of the Superb as it looks similar to the shoulder line. The multi-spoke alloys gives it a upper segment look. Unlike the outgoing version that had square setup, the rear profile gets wrapped around tail lamps. The new lettering on the boot from Skoda replaces the logo.
The interior looks new and doesn’t feel anyway like the outgoing Octavia. The cabin has become more spacious than the outgoing model which looked sporty. The dashboard receives a layered model that incorporates a massive infotainment touchscreen device of 10 inches. The 2-spoke steering wheel is inspired by the Mercedes S-Class pre-facelift.
The new Octavia also gets the all-digital virtual cockpit updated version. Just like Audi cars, it displays multiple car-related info, along with full screen maps. It comes with wireless charging, e-SIM connected tech, 3-zone climate control, USB-C connections, predictive cruise control, predictive pedestrian and cyclist protection, and so on.
Based on Volkswagen’s new MQB platform, the new Octavia is getting bigger and spacious on the inside. The new Octavia is 19 mm longer than the outgoing model and 15 mm wider. The boot space is also greater with a size of 600 litres.
For the international market, Skoda will be introducing a range of new engines including petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains. In India, the new-gen Octavia is expected to be launched with a petrol engine initially sometime in 2020.
