Hyundai are reportedly planning another variant for their popular hatchback, the Grand i10 Nios here. It will be a turbocharged petrol variant, expected to come here soon. As per reports, Hyundai may bring it in April 2020, which is not far away from now.
The engine taken for consideration will be the 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol one, seen on the recently released Aura compact sedan and the Venue compact SUV. This engine, first introduced on the Venue, made 120 BHP of power and 172 Nm of torque. However, the Aura features a detuned version of the motor, which makes 100 BHP of power and 172 Nm of torque.
This engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission on both models. Hyundai will provide the detuned version of the engine on the Grand i10 Nios. It is also said that the turbocharged petrol variant of the Grand i10 Nios may be known as the N-Line variant.
The N-Line is Hyundai’s performance division, seen on many of their vehicles on sale globally. One of them is the globally sold Grand i10 Nios, offered in markets like Europe. Hyundai does offer a Turbo package on the Aura here.
This package is a feature-loaded variant of the compact sedan having premium upholstery and equipment. On the Grand i10 Nios, we can see it having features such as a push button start-stop, rear parking camera, Auto AC and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It will also be having a black interior theme with red inserts on the dashboard, along with grey coloured door handles.
This will likely be the most expensive variant of the hatchback when it goes on sale here. It is set to be priced at Rs.7-8 lakh (ex-showroom) upon its launch. With this, Hyundai will take on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS, Tata Tiago JTP and the Volkswagen Polo GT in the performance hatchback segment here.
