Maruti Suzuki has silently updated its big selling compact SUV, the Vitara Brezza with the option of AGS (AMT/Automated Manual Transmission) at a starting price of INR 8.54 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). The compact SUV gets an upgraded safety package as well as minor cosmetic changes.
On the exterior, the updated Vitara Brezza gains a new Autumn Orange colour with a Pearl Arctic White roof and Glossy Black alloy wheels.
The biggest highlight on the updated Vitara Brezza is the addition of an AMT gearbox mated to the diesel engine. Engine-wise, the Vitara brezza continues to be powered by 1.3-litre DDiS 200 diesel engine capable of delivering 90 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque, but comes paired to the 5-Speed AMT gearbox. However, the unavailability of a petrol engine limits the Brezza’s popularity.
Minor cosmetic changes include chrome front grille and chrome garnish on the boot door handles is standard on all variants. The automaker has axed Cerulian Blue and Cerulian Blue with Pearl Arctic White roof, and replaced it with a new Autumn Orange and Autumn Orange with a Pearl Arctic White roof. Also, the top-of-the-line variants now gets Glossy Black alloy wheels instead of Grey ones.
On the inside there are no changes, except the addition of an new AMT gear-lever.
Safety-wise, the 2018 Brezza comes equipped with the ISOFIX child seat restraint system, high-speed warning alert, rear parking sensors and dual front airbags as standard. In the outgoing model, the base LDi and VDi variants were offered only with a driver-side airbag, with customers having to pay about Rs. 13,000 more to get the additional safety features.
Apart from the above changes, the compact SUV will basically remain the same as the previous model. With the arrival of AMT version customers will have to pay Rs. 50,000 more than what they have to pay for the manual one. The new 2018 Maruti Vitara Brezza competes head-on with the Honda WR-V, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300.
Given Maruti’s good track record in reducing cost, expect the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza AMT to make it even more popular!
