2018 Auto Expo – 6 car & 4 motorcycle makers will not participate the biennial event

The Auto Expo 2018 is just about four months away from us and we have got some interesting news. Reports in leading newspaper claims that as many as six carmakers and four motorcycle makers will not participate in the upcoming biennial event. It comes as a surprise given that some big names will be absent.

Out of them, carmakers include Ford India, Nissan India, General Motors India, Volkswagen India, Skoda India and Audi India. Bike makers who am miss this event are Bajaj, Royal Enfield, Ducati and Harley Davidson. The reasons for this have not yet come out from some manufacturers, while few manufacturers say due to the effectiveness of the investment.

Reasons may include high costs for participation and ineffective or inadequate returns. It may also be due to the people giving less importance to these stalls at the expense of attractive stalls. Statements have come out from Skoda India and Volkswagen India confirming they will not take part in Auto Expo 2018.

It is sad to see some big names pulling out from South Asia’s largest Auto Show, which had gathered positive responses over the years. Financial constraints and heavy spending on concept models also does no good, which may not guarantee desired returns. There is some good news that carmakers like Peugeot SA, Kia Motors and MG Motors from SAIC are expected to showcase their models and are likely to be there.
