Next-generation Mitsubishi Lancer (Grand Lancer) leaked, ahead of its official debut

The next-generation of Mitsubishi’s Lancer has been leaked online, ahead of its official unveiling on 6 April, 2017. The car will be named the ‘Mitsubishi Grand Lancer’ and will be sold in markets across Southeast-Asia.

The car comes with a revised interior and a more aggressive looking exterior design compared to the previous-gen Lancer. The exterior has a striking X-shapes family face at the front and C-shaped tail lamps and a great looking bumper at the rear. The sides of the car aren’t as striking and is mostly based on practicality, while the wheel Arches look very good.

It has a long feature list which consists of automatic LED headlights, 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, 10.2-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, 8-inch, automatic climate control, reversing camera and new door panels and gearshift lever.

As far as safety is concerned, the 2017 Grand Lancer gets Seven airbags, Active Stability Control (ASC), Traction Control (TCL), Hill-start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop signal System (ESS) and Accident Warning System (AWS) as standard.

Engine specifications say that the car will be covered by a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder engine producing 139 bhp of power and 176 nm of torque, with power being channelled to the front wheels via a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

Prices could range from around Rs 15 lakh for the entry-level version, all the way to Rs 18 lakh for the fully loaded version. It remains to be seen whether it will arrive in India, considering that Mitsubishi is now with Nissan, which looks at options beyond its range of international cars.
