Swift which made its debut in 2005 is currently India’s best selling B+ segment hatchback. The second generation Swift launched in 2011 is a larger car than the one which made its debut in 2005. In order to compete with the other leaders in this segment such as Hyundai Elite i20, Punto Evo and Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Suzuki finally updated its current Swift with minor cosmetic changes and some additional features in November this year.
The next-generation Swift will arrive in 2017 with an even sportier character.
After this recent minor update, Maruti Suzuki has now plans to launch the all new next gen Swift in 2017 as per the reports obtained from different sources across the web. The all new next gen Swift is expected to be launched in 3 years from now. The upcoming next gen Swift is expected to retain its Standard look perhaps with more additional features and power.
Compared to first generation Swift, the current-gen Swift has weight of the car reduced drastically which would in fact continue to be still reduced in the upcoming Swift in 2017. Weight reduction in turn will increase fuel efficiency which most of the Indian buyers would be waiting for. With the new government rules, all the future cars are to be equipped with safety features and we expect the upcoming Swift to be offered with standard ABS and airbags.
