The all-new, sixth-generation Hyundai Elantra is scheduled to launch on August 23, 2016 in India. Just ahead of the launch, the details and specifications have been leaked on the Internet.
From what we can gather, the sixth-gen Elantra will be on-sale in India with 2 engine options – petrol and diesel, and 5 variants – S, SX, SX AT, SX(O), SX(O) AT. A total of 5 colours will be on offer – Blue, Red, Black, Silver and White. It will have a ground clearance of 170 mm, boot space of 458 litres, fuel tank of 50-litres and a turning radius of 5.3-metres.
What lies under the bonnet is revealed to be a 2.0-litre 4 cyl Dual VTVT petrol engine producing150 BHP and 190 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm and a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder, CRDi diesel churning-out 126 BHP and 265 Nm of torque @ 1,900-2,700 rpm. Both engines are offered with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.
As far as mileage is concerned, the manual petrol Elantra will delivered a fuel efficiency of 14.6 KMPL, while the manual diesel Elantra will boast of an economy of 22.4 KMPL. Further, the all-new Elantra will get two driving modes: Eco and Sport, to adjust car’s characteristics to the user requirements.
Hyundai India will also offer a 3 year/unlimited kilometres warranty as standard with the 2016 Elantra sedan.
