A month ago, we bought you the spied image of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze without a single piece of camouflage. Now from the press release picture of Chevrolet, we could clearly make out the front remained concealed as we showed earlier. The wagon may not make it to our shores, but the styling updates seen in the picture will surely filter down to the Cruze saloon in the form of a mid-cycle facelift.
From the images, the Cruze gets a refreshed nose. There’s the wider chin, vertically aligned fog lamps clusters, and a grille gets a slight update – a new ‘razor wire’ like design replaces the earlier honeycomb styling. While the headlamp’s shape remains the same, it now features clear-lens treatment and silver-reflector material replaces the black plastic. This surely gives the Cruze a more up-market look. New alloy-wheel designs will be included to complete the exterior styling upgrades.
Coming to interiors, it will receive re-designed rear seats which will help improve rear-headroom. There will also be a slightly redesigned centre console and a central touch-screen that doubles up as a screen for reversing camera.
Making its debut in Geneva in just a few days, the Cruze Wagon will hit the European market in summer 2012. The powerplants for the Wagon include, 1.4-litre trubo diesel, 1.7-litre turbo diesel and 2.0-litre turbo diesel. Petrol variants include 1.6-litre and 1.8-litre natural aspirated petrol engines.
For India however, Cruze will be housing a 2.0-litre CRDe developing 163 PS. It is expected to hit the Indian market by 2013.
