Audi RS5 Coupe facelift-with Michael Perschke and Aditya Patel
Audi India today launched the all-new 2013 RS5 in Indian car market priced at Rs. 95.28 ( ex showroom Mumbai) and Rs. 96.81 (ex showroom Delhi). The RS5 has been on-sale in our market since 2011, today the company just replaced it with the new 2013 model, which comes with a host of minor changes. The engine is the same unit as before without any increase in output.
Compared to the outgoing model that was priced at Rs. 76 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) at the time of launch in 2011, the new 2013 RS5 comes to us via CBU and is considerably more expensive, owing to the increased import duties levied by our Government. Price-wise, comparing the Audi and the Porsche makes sense but RS5 can be driven on a daily basis, the Cayman S is an out-and-out sports car.
The 2013 RS5 gets more stylish and sportier in looks than the outgoing version. The car now features new angular headlights along with LED daytime running lights at both front and rear. The RS5 will sit on 19” alloy wheels while both front and rear bumpers are restyled, also contours redesigned bonnet. The front splitter (remind of a race car) and the wing mirrors come with silver satin-paint finish.

While inside the cabin, it receives a new RS 3-spoke steering wheel, air-con controls and multimedia interface. Bluetooth phone connectivity, cruise control and DVD based satellite navigation and iPod connectivity are also on offer. The optional equipment offered with the new RS5 include heated and cooled seats, a sports suspension with dynamic ride control, variable damper, a Bang and Olufsen sound system and Audi Drive select driving dynamic system.
Under the hood, the car remains the same, deriving its power from a naturally aspirated, 4.2-litre V8 all-aluminium, directly injection engine, it churns out the maximum power output of 444bhp and 430Nm of peak torque. The power is transmitted to all four-wheels via company’s popular Quattro all-wheel drive system via mated to a seven speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission. It touches the 0-100 kmph mark in only 4.6 seconds, and attains a top-speed of 280 kmph.
