2012 Yamaha Fazer launched after cosmetic facelift

Last week, Yamaha India has given a refreshing touch to the FZ series through slight modifications. When new colors for the FZ-16/S are here, can new colors for the Fazer be far behind? Now the Fazer too gets similar updates. Although the updates are minor and don’t get too much excited, though no major functional upgrades but gave some cosmetic tweaks to the new variants.

Earlier we said the pricing along with the engine specs and other details haven’t changed. But now close sources to us reveal, the 2012 FZ-16/S/Fazer has a slight updated on the peak torque which now seems to have come down from the earlier 14.0 Nm to 13.6 Nm on the latest models (tuning the engine for better fuel efficiency) and the 2012 FZ will be available at a price of Rs. 69,250, FZS at Rs. 71,280 while Fazer will bear the price tag of Rs. 76,380 (All ex-showroom price, New Delhi).

The new cool and exciting graphics not only make the bikes look super-stylish but give a contemporary and sporty look. Other changes include the addition of a lower chain guard/protector, redesigned grab rails, a longer & wider rear mudguard and a wider and longer rear seat.

The earlier FZ models had the smallest rear seat among Indian bikes, making it an uncomfortable especially for the well endowed pillions. But now the company has changed the seat and made it longer and wider so that even pillions enjoy the ride on a bike.

New stylish grab-rails added that not only acts as a back rest but is something the pillion rider can hold on to if the road is bumpy. Chain guard/protector enhanced to prevent clothes (especially saree & burkha) getting tangled in the chain. It also gets a wider rear fender for added convenience and prevention of mud splash during monsoon rides.

Upbeat about the launch of new variants of FZ series, the company has put together a comprehensive promotional strategy and will follow a 360 degree approach covering all the elements of promotion namely TV/Print/Web etc. For this, Yamaha will be utilizing its brand advisor John Abraham who along with the product will take centre stage for all the promotional activities revolving around the new variants.
