The latest addition to Yamaha India’s portfolio has been unveiled in the guise of the Saluto – a new 125cc motorcycle that’s third offering in the segment after SS 125 and YBR 125. The new Saluto is offered only in one variant available at a price of Rs 52,000, ex-Showroom, New Delhi (Price of YBR125 starts from Rs 50,846 while that of SS125 starts from Rs 56,555).
The word Saluto has been derived from english word ‘salute’.
The new Saluto is offered with two colour options – Brave Black & Victory Red, and sports alloy wheels & dual drum brakes. The design seems to be inspired from the existing YBR 110, however, the new offering looks much sportier. It features electric start, longest seat in class, comfortable foot rests, upright riding position for comfortable ride. Sadly it misses-out, an optional disc brakes.
Powering the Saluto is the same 123cc single cylinder 4-valve air cooled engine which powers SS125 and YBR125. This engine developed under the brand’s Blue Core technology produces 10.88 PS at 7500 rpm and 10.40 Nm at 6,400 rpm on the other two Yamaha 125 cc motorcycles. But, in the Saluto, this engine is tuned to deliver 8.3 PS power at 7000 rpm and 10.1 Nm torque at 4500 rpm, mated to a 4-speed transmission.
Tagline of Yamaha Saluto – Milenge Tujhe Salaam (You will get Saluted).
Weighing 112 kg, the Saluto is the lightest motorcycle in its class which directly translates into more mileage. This reduced weight, and retuned engine, enables Saluto to deliver 10% more mileage – 78 kmpl, claims the company. This new offering from Yamaha India will compete with likes of Bajaj Discover 125, Hero Super Splendor, Honda Shine and TVS Phoenix.
