New Toyota Camry is scheduled to launch on 24th August in India

Since 1997 the Camry has been one of the best-selling cars around the world and even in India it is one of the more favored among the Toyota line-up. Now Toyota Kirloskar India is all-set to launch the 7th generation Camry sedan on August 24 in India. Furthermore, the car will be assembled at the company’s Bangalore facility, which should help Toyota price it competitively at around Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom).

Changes in the exterior resembles the Honda Accord with sharp styling, the new Camry looks more premium and luxurious with the new styled Chrome radiator grille, Automatic HID headlamps, 10 spoke 16inch alloy wheels, chrome door handles and rear garnish along with the body colored ORVM with electric adjust and retract and the freshly designed larger and elongated taillights, which is combination lamp with LED brake lights.

On the inside, the new Camry features a dual-zone automatic climate control, touchscreen DVD Display Audio with AM/FM, Bluetooth connectivity, in-built Mic & Amplifier, chrome door handles even from the inside, leather trimmings and real stitching at the dashboard, rain sensing wipers, day/night inside rear view mirror etc. Enhancing the cabin are the 8-way power adjust driver and passenger seat, wooden finish at the door trims, 4-spoke leather, silver and wooden finish steering wheel, leather and wood finish gear knob.

Under the hood, the new Camry will come with a more refined 2.5-litre 178bhp VVT-i petrol engine mated to new six-speed automatic gearbox with improved power and fuel economy compared to the outgoing 2.4-litre engine. Manual gearboxes are not offered in any market where new Camry is sold. Currently, the company has no plans to introduce diesel variant of Camry but if eventually there is one, an existing diesel engine could be plonked under its bonnet.

As far as safety features are concerned, the new Camry will have ABS with EBD and BA braking system (Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brake force Distribution and Braking Assist) resulting to extremely controlled driving. Further, there will be an impact sensing fuel-cut off system, immobilizer plus alarm, clearance and back sonar with illustration display, ensuring that the ride is not just comfortable but safe and secure as well.
