The test mule of 2012 Toyota Camry has been spotted in Chennai camouflaged with tapes and thanks to AutoCarindia our reader Anmol Bajaj, we have some new spy pictures again. The car will be launched at the Auto Expo in January 2012.
The redesigned large grille with a touch of chrome to give the desired finish on the front is likely to bring a whole new look to the fascia with tastefully designed rectangular headlamps to enhance the splendour. The Toyota Camry rear end will not undergo a spectacular change, but will sport a redesigned rear bumper and a pair of new tail lamps.
The new Camry interiors are refurbished with a unique dashboard design with the metallic inserts and wooden finish to place it in the echelon of the luxury cars Lexus. There’s also slightly more space inside and the interiors do look richer too.
As for the technical specifications, the new Toyota Camry will be powered either by a VVT-i petrol motor and we expect this engine to be available in India as well. Power output could see a bump up to 174bhp but that will depend on the engine’s state of tune or a 3.5 L V6 engine coupled with an automatic gearbox.
Toyota has no plans to assemble of new sedan in India as the revamped Toyota Camry will be imported as a CBU in the Indian car market. Another interesting piece of news is that the global model of the new Camry will be carried forward to the Indian market laden with plethora of modifications. Pricing should be competitive as the company is considering local assembly from CKD kits.
