Maruti Suzuki to launch iM-4 compact crossover: a Renault Kwid rival?

MotorOctane is reporting that Maruti Suzuki is considering the Suzuki iM-4 compact SUV for India, for a dispatch in mid-2017. The iM-4, if presented, would be the smallest crossover from the organization which will join the S-Cross (A-Cross) in mid-2015 and the sub-4m YBA one year from now. The previous will contend with the Renault Duster and Hyundai ix25, while the newer one will go against the Ford EcoSport and the future Tata Nexon.

The Suzuki iM-4 concept was exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and was affirmed for production. Measuring 3,693 mm x width 1,709 mm x stature 1,566 mm it accompanies the stat-stop technology alongside brake power re-generation.

The iM-4 would go up against the other compact SUVs which would by then have the Mahindra S101 and Datsun Redi-Go, the cousin to the Renault Kwid, turns out one year from now. The reports further suggests that the iM-4 produced in India and sent out to Europe from 2017. Measuring around 3.6 m long, it would be powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged motor that was showcased alongside the concept. 4WD will be optional, while other regular variants will be FWD.

It would be Maruti Suzuki’s big ticket in the compact SUV segment. How it fares in the market is what remains to be seen.
