On the rear portion it receives a new bumper, circular reflectors and roof spoiler, but continues the same tail gate and tail lamps. The side profile incorporates roof rails, new diamond cut alloy wheels and side skirts. However, the i20 Active does retain the overall shape and profile of the Elite i20, including the equipment list.

Although the engines are same, they are tuned to deliver better acceleration in i20 Active. Thanks to longer final gear ratio, the i20 Active petrol accelerates 6% faster, while the diesel accelerates 11% faster as compared to Elite i20 variants.

The petrol delivers claimed fuel economy of 17.19 kmpl while diesel model delivers 21.19 kmpl. Changes to the i20 Active aren’t just cosmetic, as it features a higher ground clearance of 190mm thanks to the raised suspension. Despite the butch exterior courtesy of a 20 mm increased ride height and additional body cladding, the i20 Active will only be offered with a front-wheel drive layout and automatic transmission will not be available even as an option.

This means its competitors are the likes of the Toyota Etios Cross, Volkswagen Cross Polo and Fiat Avventura.
