Skoda Auto showcased the Fabia Monte Carlo and the RS 2000 concept, based on their Fabia platform at the 2012 Auto Expo. Other than that, they had the recently launched Rapid and Laura RS saloons at their stall. The Monte Carlo Fabia is a tribute to 100 years of the Monte Carlo rally and 110 years of Skoda in motorsport. This special edition Fabia features piano-black body trim and black coloured roof, door mirrors and radiator grille as well as smoked headlights and black 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels. Interior touches include both black or red-and-black sports seats, and red-stitched leather steering wheel, handbrake and gearstick boot. Success in the S2000 rally series prompted Skoda to make a celebratory concept car. Skoda has the enviable distinction of being the manufacturer with the most number of rally victories especially in the non-modified or N category. Of late, their S2000 rally cars have also been a big success and the RS 2000 concept car is something of a celebration. The RS 2000 has four doors and four seats, interestingly, despite being a convertible. The concept roadster has some unique styling bits like the tapering windscreen blending with the windows all the way back to the rear. “We have made an impressive start in implementing our 2018 growth strategy, growing significantly and achieving a new sales record. Our production, sales, financial figures and international footprint all improved yet again. Skoda intends to raise its worldwide sales to at least 1.5 million per year by 2018,” Skoda’s CEO, Winfried Vahland said. Skoda informed that they sold more cars in 2011 in almost all regions than in the previous year. Their sales in India were nearly 50 per cent higher than before, to the tune of over 30,000 cars in 2011.   Also see - Skoda Launches Fabia Monte Carlo Skoda’s Hot Fabia RS 2000 Concept   Image Credit - Team-bhp
