SPYSHOTS: Skoda Superb – third-gen spotted testing in Indian soil (Updated)

The next-generation Skoda Superb has been spotted testing near Aurangabad by Mr. Gaurav Wagh, where Skoda Auto India has its manufacturing plant.

The third iteration of the company’s flagship sedan is expected to make its debut in India by the end of this year or early 2016. It shares underpinnings with the latest Volkswagen Passat including the MQB platform. The third-gen Superb is 75 kg lighter than its predecessor despite having grown by 80 mm in wheelbase, 47 mm in width and 28 mm in overall length.

From the front, it appears the 2016 Superb inherit’s the Škoda Vision C Concept design featuring an new Skoda family grille, restyled headlamps with daytime running lights, redesigned tail lamps, restyled bumpers, chrome lining for the windows, a shark fin antenna and 5-spoke alloy wheels. The next-gen Superb has a coupe-like look compared to the outgoing model.

Engine choices for the 2016 Superb are expected to be carried over from the current model, which is offered with a 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine, as well as a 1.8-liter TSI variant, both mated to a DSG gearbox.
