As if we weren’t already familiar with the Lamborghini Gallardo – it’s been in production since 2003 as a 2004 model -that’s bordering the decade mark, which is due next year in terms of modeling years. And to keep the Gallardo seemingly fresh and timeless, Lamborghini has released quite a few variants and limited editions-so many in fact, I can’t even keep track.

And to add to the Gallardo fiesta, Lamborghini has just revealed another special edition version based off of the Gallardo Super Trofeo: the Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse. This new and most extreme model in the Gallardo line-up is based on the Gallardo Super Trofeo, the successful race car from the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, the world’s fastest road legal supercar based on Gallardo.

On the exterior, lots of carbon fiber is included, with a quick-release engine cover and exterior color inspired by the Sesto Elemento, a more pronounced rear wing, unique tri-color striping and gloss black accenting all around. The car is made available in four color options – Giallo Midas (yellow), Bianco Monocerus (white), Grigio Thalasso (grey) and in Rosso Mars (red).

On the inside, the updates include in the form of Alcantara and more carbon fiber, while center console, seats and door pads will all be made of lightweight material so as to contribute to its overall light weight which Lamborghini states will be at 1,340 kgs, that is a full 70kg lighter than the regular version.

Under the hood sits the Gallardo’s typical 5.2-litre V10 good for 570hp and mated to a six-speed sequential manual cog swapper. 0-100 happens in 3.4 seconds (0-200kph in 10.4 seconds) for a top run of 320kph.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Squadra Corse will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
