‘Volvo Buses India, on last week, unveiled its 9400 multi-axle bus with I-Shift option during the second edition of Bus and Special Vehicle Expo (BSVE) 2011 here’.
Managing Director Akash Passey said the I-Shift is an automated gear changing mechanism which mimics the best driver. It is 12-speed manual gearbox with automated gear changing system. The starting gear is selected automatically according to road gradient and vehicle load which makes driving easy. The Volvo 9400 multi-axle also comes with alloy wheels which are light in weight. Volvo said I-Shift variant would haul 40, 000 km for the operator every month, which are 10,000 km more than existing models.
The company has doubled investment in Hoskote plant investing Rs 200 crore over three years, he said, adding this will ramp up capacity from 1,000 buses to 5,000 buses.
