Swedish car maker Volvo launched their all new D3 diesel variant of S60, S60 and XC60 earlier today in New Delhi. All new S60 sedan is now available for a price of Rs 23.9 lakhs, S80 sedan for a price of Rs 31.9 lakhs and XC60 SUV is available for a price of Rs 31.9 lakhs. All prices here are ex-showroom, New Delhi and include an introductory price discount of Rs. 80,000. The discount is valid till March this year. These variants are now available at all Volvo dealerships.
The most significant update in all these 3 new Volvo cars is its new D3 engine with, the S60 will deliver 18.5kmpl, the S80 17.8kmpl and the XC60 14.7kmpl. The D3 is claimed to have a different injection system for the piezoelectric fuel injector in comparison with the D5 engine and this gives it a smoother driving experience.
As part of its safety package, the S60 D3 and S80 D3 get whiplash protection; active bending lights, dynamic stability traction control and laser assisted automatic braking. The XC60 D3 gets these features and also rolls stability control and side impact protection system.
Volvo will continue to import their cars as CBU’s in India. Once the sales figures improve, Volvo might think of assembling cars in India. As far as dealer network is concerned, Volvo said that they will continue to increase their dealer outlets in India. Volvo plans to compete with the India’s luxury car segment leaders Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz with the launch of these 3 new cars with diesel heart. As far as price is concerned, the cars have been priced aggressively and will attract more buyers.
