TVS Indonesia, the local arm of Indian two-wheeler maker TVS Motors, has launched the Tromax 150 in Indonesia. Tormax 150 is the third and the current flagship among the Step Thru Models that TVS Motor sells in Indonesia along with the Neo X3i 110 cc & Rockz 125 cc. The TVS Tormax is priced at 14.9 Million Rupiahs (Rs. 78,500) On-Road Jakatra.
The Tromax will compete with Suzuki Satria FU in the same 150cc underbone segment. The Tromax sports a 150cc, liquid-cooled engine which delivers a maximum power up to 13.2 ps at 8000 rpm, while maximum torque 12.5 Nm at 5500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5 speed gear box.
The Tormax sports a horizontally mounted gas charged monoshock suspension at the rear, while doing duty at the front is a set of regular telescopic forks. One very interesting feature on the Tormax is its unique exhaust with CBR1000RR-style twin outlets. Only one exhaust opening is functional at low rpms, but as the rev needle dances up the curve, the second exhaust opening lets the gases out for a more sonorous sound. The underbone (moped) is also equipped with disc brakes at both ends. Funnily, the Indonesian website for the product reads disc brakes as ‘dick brakes’. Ahem!
