Toyota’s version of the Maruti Vitara Brezza could be called ‘Toyota Urban Cruiser’ according to AutoCarIndia media report. It is believed to have the name derived from the famous Land Cruiser.
The Urban Cruiser is nothing but a Toyota-badged Vitara Brezza. It will be the second badge-engineered model in Toyota’s India portfolio. The SUV could receive minor cosmetic changes to differentiate it from Maruti’s version of the sub-4 meter compact SUV.
Coming with a new bigger grille and revamped front bumpers, the Toyota Urban Cruiser will get more differentiation from the Maruti Vitara Brezza, unlike the Glanza. The rear bumpers too will be redesigned; while the headlights, tail lights and alloy rims will remain more or less the same as the new Vitara Brezza facelift.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser’s interior is likely to be tweaked with new tones of lighter colors compared to the Brezza and new graphics. Toyota’s Brezza-based compact SUV will likely be sold with more features.
Toyota Urban Cruiser could get the same 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder BS6-compliant petrol engine on-sale in the Vitara Brezza. The engine produces 104 BHP and 138 Nm. Toyota might also offer the same transmissions, which include an automatic 5-speed and 4-speed manual.
Toyota is expected to keep the pricing similar to the Maruti Vitara Brezza ranging from Rs. 7.5 to 11.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Toyota Urban Cruiser compact SUV is expected to launch by August this-year.
