Today we can show you for the first time the exterior design of the upcoming Tata Zica, completely undisguised. The previous officially released teasers that we’ve seen shows only the head-lamps, tail-lights, grille and door handles.
With numerous sightings of test mules making their rounds, even in an sedan body style, across India, we now know quite a bit about the Maruti Celerio fighter, at least on a superficial level. Today’s shot from Goa reveals that the company has already dispatched few units of the Tata Zica for the media drive which will be held on 5th and 6th of December, 2015. While all the cars are blanketed, only one of them is totally undisguised, without a single piece of camouflage.
The Zica slots in between the Nano and the Bolt in Tata Motors hatchback line-up, and it seems that the designers have finally broken away from the aging Indica design. Its sleek aerodynamic design makes it not just visually striking, but gives a huge advantage in a market filled with ageing designs. The whole exterior is draped with soft curves, with short overhangs and Zica gets a restricted use of chrome on its body elements.
Seen in these spyshots is likely the top-of-the-line trim as it is equipped with chrome-garnished foglamps bezel, grille lip and interior door handles, further featuring an alloy wheels, a rear wiper and rear parking sensors. As for the interior, we can see a dual-tone black-and-beige interior, individual rear headrests, and 60:40 split folding rear seat.
A 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine and an all-new 1.05-litre 3-cylinder common rail diesel engine are said to be under the hood of the Zica. To add to that, it’s said to be either paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox or an automated manual transmission (AMT). According to Tata Motors, the name ‘Zica’ is an acronym for ‘Zippy Car’.
Tata Zica is expected to launch in the Indian Car Market in first week of January-2016.
