Ever wondered what the Tata TaMo Futuro will look like as an sportscar? Well, wonder no more, as our friends at Rushlane have created this render, which looks-like inspired from the McLaren 570S Coupe.
Based on the Vista’s X1 platform (also underpins the Bolt, Zest and upcoming Nexon), the Futuro sportscar will have the compact proportions of mid-engined sports cars like the Opel Speedster (or Vauxhall VX220), and Alfa Romeo 4C. It will create an all-new segment of its own below the DC Avanti, another MADE-IN-INDIA mid-engined sportscar.
India’s least expensive mid-engine sportscar will make its world premiere in concept avatar on March 07, 2017 at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The car is scheduled to launch in mid-2018 for a price of around Rs 25 lakh. Tata Motors will make only 250 units of the Futuro to maintain its exclusivity.
Under the hood, the Futuro sportscar is likely to get a twin-turbocharged version of the 1.2L Revotron petrol motor that will get 180 BHP+ of power. The car will be very lightweight (under 800 kg targeted), so 180 BHP of power will be good enough to give the vehicle a massive power-to-weight ratio of 225 BHP/ton.
Like many sports cars from the past-era which include Ferrari 208, 2014 Porsche 911 Targa 4, Porsche 996 have similar power-to-weight ratios.
