Tata Motors are looking to enter the premium hatchback territory and are readying one. Codenamed the 45X, this premium hatchback will replace the Bolt from Tata Motors line-up. The 45X was recently clicked in Ooty, when the car was doing its road test.
These images indicate that the production version of the car is similar to its concept form. It has an curved roofline, new 4-Spoke large alloy wheels with 4 disc brakes, sleek headlamps with projector lamps & LED DRLs, and LED tail-lamps to name a few.
The 45X has been developed from Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC), situated in Coventry United Kingdom. Unlike the concept model, the production one will slot under the 4 meter mark in length.
Engine wise, the 45X will feature the new 1.2-litre petrol engine currently undergoing development. The 45X will also have the 1.5-litre, turbo-diesel engine, seen on the Nexon. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, with an automatic version being offered as an option.
Tata Motors will launch the 45X during the 2019 festive season. The 45X will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and the Honda Jazz in the premium hatchback segment. Tata Motors are likely to give the 45X an edge over its rivals by undercutting them on the price front.
