We know that Tata Motors is famous for its rigorous testing methods before the official launch, following the tradition the folks at Team-BHP have spotted the camouflaged Tata Nano undergoing testing in Pune. At first it was claimed to be the facelifted petrol variant, now our friends IndianAutosBlog cleared the mystery and confirmed it to be the upcoming diesel variant. Once launched, the Nano diesel could become the smallest and cheapest diesel car in the world.
The car has been seen rigorously testing in different locations in India and the spy images of the same has been on the web, since the long time. But this fresh set of images only reveals the positioning of the exhaust pipe on the Nano diesel variant. And also you can see that this model features a side view mirror on the passenger side, which was missing in the previous spy shots. The diesel Nano is all-set to feature a new front & rear look with a open-able boot lid.
Under the hood, the Nano diesel is likely to be powered by a two cylinder turbocharged 800cc diesel engine producing about 40 bhp at 4,000 rpm is expected to deliver a ARAI certified mileage of 35 kmpl. This will make Nano diesel the most fuel efficient car in the country. The turbocharger for this engine could be made by Garrett Turbochargers.
