After the recent success of Honda Amaze, the test mule of the next-generation Honda City has been spotted in Thailand recently. As already read in our previous posts, Honda has confirmed that the next-Gen City would be unveiled on 25th November this-year in the Indian market which would be the global premiere of the vehicle.
As per the recent reports obtained from Team-BHP, the new City is expected to reach the dealerships in the latter part of December-2013 followed by delivery of the next-gen City to commence from mid-January onwards. The Tier I cities is expected to get it still earlier. As seen in the recent spy shots, the next-gen City is expected to be bigger (in both length and width) than the current City and would also feature new tail lights with LED ascents, projector headlamps, increased boot space and legroom.
The major change under the hood will be the addition of a much-needed diesel powertrain option. This 1.5-litre i-DTEC turbo diesel engine, first made its debut in Honda Amaze compact sedan and likely to power the next-gen City and Jazz, as well. Currently, this engine is available with a 100 PS-200 Nm state of tune on the Amaze. As the City is a much larger car than the Amaze, the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine could be tuned to output extra torque to cope with the additional weight.
