Performance enthusiasts in the country are eagerly waiting for the release of the Abarth cars in India. Now we have the firstever spy picture of the super-hot Fiat Punto Abarth caught testing in Coimbatore by a Team-BHPian, that suggests the testing and homologation process seems to have started, which is very good news.
Fiat Punto Abarth Evo is the performance variant of regular Punto. This highly anticipated performance machine from Fiat is a 2-door model and the top spec ‘Esseesse’ variant. Although complete technical details/specifications are available, we aren’t sure about the fact that Fiat would bring into India. But we are sure that it will be locally manufactured and would hence be priced very competitively.
In international markets, it comes powered by a 1.4-litre turbo charged petrol engine which makes 180 BHP of power and mouth watering 270 Nm of torque. The Esseesse accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 216 kmph. The reworked suspension on the EsseEsse sees revised Abarth Springs, Koni dampers and Brembo discs all round.
On the exterior, the Punto Evo Abarth features bigger air intakes, flared wheel arches, big 18”inch alloy wheels, spoiler, skirts and all other bells and wizzles. Inside, the car features Abarth Corse by Sabelt seats in black leather with a distinctly sporty design and an Abarth Blue&MeTM MAP satellite navigation system complete with telemetrics developed with Magneti Marelli.
We expect the Punto Abarth Evo to be launched in India by June-2013, with a price in the range of Rs. 8 to 10 lakhs.
