2012 Mahindra W201 upcoming SUV was spotted on the Mumbai-Pune highway. The clear front shot shows what seems like daytime running LED lamps on the headlamp cluster. The car looks bulky and heavy and would be powered by the 2.2 liter mHawk motor, which does duty in the Scorpio as well. Mahindra W201 (popularly known as World SUV) is expected during the festive season for about 15-17 lakh rupees making it the flagship Mahindra.
The Mahindra logo is clearly visible on the grille, behind the camouflage. Notice the brushed aluminum finish on the radiator grille that appears like stalactites. Unlike the Scorpio, the W201 hasn’t yet been to the health center and it reflects on the excess flab, especially around the front-end. The wipers don’t seem to be of the twin blade type and the world SUV features hood scoops for better cooling as well. The world SUV would be available in front-wheel drive configuration initially with the 4-wheel drive version coming along later in 2012.
The interiors of the W201 reveal beige and black/brown treatment. Quality does not seem upto the mark but then the car is still under testing. The center console houses a screen, which could display various information like, radio channel and fuel efficiency (something similar to the Xylo). The knobs looks decent but the chrome near the instrument clusters looks too flashy. Mahindra has been testing the W201 in actual conditions for more than two years now.
