The German automaker, Audi has snatched second position in the luxury car market from Mercedes and the company successfully is selling the Audi Q range around the globe. This success has made the brand all the more ambitious which is now moving on the path of expansion of its Q Series of SUV’s.
Audi India is on the way to launch the smaller and compact SUV, named Q3 which was unveiled at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. This smaller Q5 is all set for launch in June 2012 which incidentally will also be the first rival to BMW’s X1 – BMW India’s strongest seller. But there is another Audi Q Series in the pipeline. Yes, recently a TeamBhp member named TheRagingBull has spotted the facelifted Audi Q5 in Mumbai which made its official debut at Beijing Motor show.
This snapped test mule is not camouflaged, as the car has already been unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show. Design wise, the changes include a new front grille, new pair of headlamps and a new bumper are some customary changes spotted besides the new steering mechanism that is now powered electrically rather than by hydraulics.
Mechanically, the new Audi Q5 has some changes to the suspension system in order to make the SUV more mannered both on road and off road. The engine line up seems to continue as it is and thus it will continue to be offered in petrol and diesel options. Reports however, suggest that Audi could make some changes in the line up and thus there is a probable change in the engine line up that will make the SUV a little more powerful and frugal than the existing models
Currently Audi Q5 is priced around Rs 39 lakh (Ex-showroom price) is the best selling mid size SUV from the Germans that has also helped the car maker in dethroning Mercedes and pushing it to the third in row from the title of best selling luxury car maker. In India, the Q5 is a close rival to BMW X3, Land Rover Freelander and Volvo XC60. The new Audi Q5 heads to a Diwali launch.
