India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India is back in action again, now their secretly working on the Nano competitor. Thanks to AutoCarIndia, the leading auto magazine of India has the inside story on the new car, along with an exclusive spy picture which has been put here, along with due credits.
The new car will be positioned below the Alto, which is currently the cheapest offering from Maruti, and retail for a price tag of less than Rs. 2 lakh. Pricing wise the company obviously is looking price it cheaper than the Alto by almost Rs.35,000 to Rs.40,000 so that it does not come into the Alto segment and competes with Nano.
From the technical aspect, it will be powered by the same 796cc, three-cylinder motor (F8D) from the Alto which has been modified to meet the latest emission norms and to make the new 800 more fuel efficient. On the inside all-new interiors is expected and will also be a little bit more spacious than before.
The company plans to target rural and semi-urban areas with the return of the legendary 800. It is expected to showcase at the 2012 Auto Expo.
