The Czech carmaker has launched online bookings of the Rapid and is expecting record sales. The new concept drops off the time limitation from the consumers’ point of view with the unlimited 24×7 access to purchase a car who likes to act on the spur of the moment. Moreover, the auto majors have to keep on trying the new concepts to have the consumers glued to them.
“The launch of ‘Rapid’ they also have started online bookings for the car. We have 18 cars that were booked online and are looking further to up this segment. Even though the e- commerce business in India is still at nascent stage, the company expects the mode to strengthen in coming years” Skoda India boss, Thomas Kuhel said.
The Skoda Rapid will possibly be Skoda’s bestselling car in India next year, Mr Kuehl added. The Rapid will attract both the enthusiast as well as the family car buyer as it has power as well as space. Its diesel engines are powerful and yet they sip fuel. The ride and handling has been tuned to suit Indian road conditions.
Skoda India is expecting to sell 2,000 units per month despite car sales slowing down owing to increased fuel prices and interest rates. It is planning to increase its number its showrooms to 100 in India and is hoping its line-up of brilliant cars such as the Skoda Superb, Skoda Laura, Skoda Fabia and the Yeti will help it make a mark for itself.
