The world renowned brand Nissan had already bought back the Datsun brand after 32 long years whose Global premiere was done in New Delhi on July 15th last year. With the great demand for sub 4 meter Compact Sedan and Mini SUV in the Indian market, Nissan has now also planned to introduce both the compact Sedan and an Mini SUV to compete the likes of cars from other brands such as Maruti Suzuki, Ford, Tata, Honda, Hyundai, etc in the respective segment.
Nissan announced the upcoming plans soon after the 2014 Auto expo, where Nissan unveiled the new Sunny and mildly refreshed Evalia MPV. With the target to increase their market share from the current 1.1% to 10% in the next three years, Nissan has targeted these segments based on what the customers are currently looking to buy.
Nissan’s upcoming Sedan would be positioned between the Micra and Sunny whereas the new Mini SUV would be placed below the recently launched Terrano. Along with these new cars in pipeline to launch, Nissan also has plans to expand its after-sales network as well as increase the number of showrooms in various places throughout the country.
