Nissan Motors launched the NV200 van way back in 2009 which was followed by taxi versions which were launched in Tokyo and New York. Now the company is ready to launch the NV200 in Indian market with different official Indian name – Evalia. Although there is no official confirmation about the launch date in India some of the trusted sources say on 25th September this year.

The Nissan Evalia is the result of the work done in the joint venture with the Ashok Leyland. The company will bring this 7-seater MPV in four variants (all diesel) namely Nissan Evalia XE, Nissan Evalia XE+, Nissan Evalia XL and Nissan Evalia XV. Under the hood, all the four variants will feature a 1.5-liter dCi mill that currently powers the Sunny, Micra, Pulse and several other Nissan-Renault vehicles. The engine can deliver a max power of 85 bhp which makes it as fuel efficient and powerful as Maruti Ertiga, which currently outscores the other MPVs in this range due to its spaciousness.

First showcased at this year’s Indian Auto Expo held at New Delhi in January, the vehicle was codenamed as NV200. The Nissan Evalia will be the first MPV which will be featuring the sliding doors on this price range. However, its big size could put this into the commercial segment just as the Tata Winger is compared to the Tata Venture. The commercial version of the Evalia will be christened as Evalia Stile and it will be produced by Nissan’s Indian ally Ashok Leyland.

Coming back to Nissan Evalia, it features twin sliding door, body colored Bumper, electronic controlled ORVM, boxy rear that make it look average. And alloy wheels will be available as a standard option in top-end variant. On the inside, the Evalia boasts sufficient space for seven six foot people with ample headroom, legroom and elbow room for all occupants. Besides, the storage space will also be big enough making it one of the cars with the highest storage space.

The other features only available in top-end variants are Rear RR Cooler as an option for Rear AC vents, Rear Monitor Camera with Display, Central Locking System, Keyless Entry, Immobilizer with Intelligent Key, Coloured Multi Information Display and a few others. However, nothing about the price has been disclosed by the company officials, but we expect it to come in a price bracket of Rs 7-10 lakh for the entire range. The Evlia will directly compete with the Maruti Ertiga and the upcoming Chevrolet Enjoy. Besides, these will be competing with the Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo as well.
