Rumours have surfaced on the social media sites that the first batch of new 2017 Yamaha R15 V3.0’s have arrived at Indian dealerships, one of the post claims that the images were snapped inside a showroom in Hyderabad.
The source of these images circulating on the internet is not verified by anyone yet. We assume these pictures were taken at some-place in Indonesia, as the new R15 is already on-sale there. Though there are no confirmed reports or whatsoever of R15 v3’s Indian launch this-year, the company’s investment on updating R15’s 149cc engine to meet BS4 norms is a clear indication that new model is not planned for the Indian market anytime soon.
But even if 1% of this rumor turns into reality, Yamaha India could possibly launch the new R15 before this Diwali earlier than expected. However, there are more chances of the new 2017 Yamaha R15 V3.0 making Indian debut at the upcoming Auto Expo in Febraury-2018, and launching there-after. For now, we would notify our readers to treat the new R15 V3 snapped at some dealership in India as a rumour, until its authenticated with hard evidence.
Throwing some-light at the new R15 V3; its based on the Delta Box frame and houses a new 155.1 cc VVA, liquid-cooled, SOHC, 4-valve engine producing 19.31 PS of maximum power and 14.7 Nm of peak torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Major highlights are full LED headlamps, hazard lamp, assist and slipper clutch, USD front forks, and a fully digital instrument cluster with shift light and gear position indicator. A total of 3 colours are on offer – Racing Blue, Matte Red and Matte Black.
