MG Motor India are on the verge of rolling out their first all-electric vehicle, the eZS, for the Indian market. The eZS is slated to be launching here in December 2019. It is said that the automaker will also sell the eZS in petrol and petrol-hybrid variants, in addition to the electric one.
This comes after the official documents regarding the eZS surfaced on the internet. It reveals that the eZS will come powered by a 1.5-litre petrol motor and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol-hybrid motor. Both these engines will also be seen on the ZS mid-size SUV, launching next year.
Of both the engines mentioned above, the 1.5-litre petrol motor will be a naturally aspirated one. It is expected to deliver a power output of 106 BHP. On the other hand, there will be a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol-hybrid, employing a direct injection method.
It looks likely to be making a respectable power output of 111 BHP. The electric motor for the eZS will be powered by a 44.5 kWh battery pack. This pack provides a driving range of 262 km for the vehicle.
MG sells the eZS in various global markets, albeit in the form of an electric mid-size SUV. The eZS will practically rival the Hyundai Kona EV in the electric vehicle segment. With more manufacturers hoping to join the segment, the EV market could live up to the huge potential it carries currently.
