A couple of months ago, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the B-Class Sports Tourer in India on 19th July, 2012 at the Buddh International Circuit in Noida.  Now the company has confirmed that the car is all-set to launch on 18th September 2012 and the national launch will be held in Mumbai. It is speculated that the car will fall in the price of around the INR 25 lakh mark, as Mercedes India has hinted that the B-Class would be positioned against the likes of the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3 crossovers.

This model is expected to be the most affordable amongst the Mercedes-Benz cars in India and at present the cheapest car in the Mercedes line-up is the C-Class which comes at a price tag of Rs. 28.56 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). However, the car will initially be launched only in the petrol version but the company has promised that the diesel variant will be rolled out soon.

Currently, the car will be imported as Completely Built-up Unit (CBU) initially and if the demand rises, the German car maker could think of producing it in the country as well. Based on the MFA platform that offers high level of comfort and maneuverability, the B Class Sports Tourer will ensure that the excursions will be highly comfortably. Adding the tourer, the car offers premium comfort on long journeys.
