Mahindra’s cut-price version of Bolero in the works!

As already read by our dear readers at BharathAutos in our previous posts in the month of September-2013, Mahindra’s Bolero being the best selling SUV in India had already reported that the Next-Gen Mahindra Bolero codenamed as U301 would be available in showrooms in 2015. Along with this, Now Mahindra has yet again pipelined the launch of the cut price entry-level EX variant of the Bolero in the next few months.

This cut price variant of Bolero would be similar to the Scorpio EX variant equipped with the 2.5-litre M2DICR common rail, turbo diesel engine producing a maximum power of 75 BHP at a maximum torque of 220 Nm. Bolero’s new EX variant would sit below all the other 7 variants such as 2WD (DI), 4WD (DI), Ambulance, Plus, SLE, SLX and ZLX variants.

Due to lower price it is obvious that Mahindra would omit some existing features such as power steering, wheel caps, remote fuel lid opener, air conditioner, fabric seats, central arm on the second row, spare wheel cover, fog lamps, body graphics and get black bumpers, grille & wing mirrors, instead of body colored ones.

Coming to the technical specifications, Bolero EX will be powered by the 2.5-litre M2DICR turbo diesel engine with common rail fuel injection coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission producing a maximum power of 62 BHP at a maximum torque of 195 Nm. As per the reports obtained, Bolero’s EX variant is expected to be priced about INR 50000 lesser than the existing SLE variant.
